Briefs? Boxers? Boxer Briefs? What Men’s Underwear Style Is Best?

Briefs vs Boxers vs Boxer Briefs | What Men’s Underwear Style Is Best? | Types Of Men’s Under Wear boxers vs boxer briefs boxer, briefs, or boxer briefs?

Which one is the perfect choice?

Which is most comfortable?

Which do the ladies like best?

It’s quite a debatable topic.

You may not have a solid answer yourself.

Still, you can try figuring it out by comparing them.

That’s what this article is for.

It puts all three underwear types in a showdown with five rounds.

It lays out the groundwork for you on the different pros and cons of each.

You will find the results below. See all the rankings and be enlightened!

When it comes to the 5 rankings in this article Tani USA wins for the best men's underwear in the world.

I've been wearing Tani USA for 18 months now and I've given several pairs to friends. The votes are in and they get 5 stars for comfort, appearance, functionality, versatility, and most importantly ladies’ preference.

Men's Underwear Round 1: Appearance

Definition: How awesome they look on you (specifically without pants)

There are certain things to take into account if you want great-looking underwear. Your body type is a factor. Is your belly a little round or flat? Do you have larger thighs? Proportions matter like they do with other clothes.

1st place: Boxer Briefs

Boxer briefs give you the best of both worlds. They're like lean shorts that give your legs that extra appeal (especially if you happen to be fit). We have Mark Wahlberg and the popular ‘90s ads he was featured in to thank. He rocked them effortlessly and people found them attractive ever since.

2nd place: Boxers

As a grown man you will want something that’s a little more padded and dresses your thighs up. Boxers do that nicely. Since they resemble shorts, they also make the lower body look bigger.

Boxers help adjust the slight disproportions for those on the skinny side. The guys of One Direction were reported all agreeing that they would rather wear boxers. Granted that was a few years back and most of them could be brawnier these days.

3rd place: Briefs

Sadly not everybody has the physique of a Calvin Klein model or a professional athlete. It takes a certain build to pull off underwear that’s shorter in length. It is pretty much why briefs land on the third spot.

Men's Underwear Round 2: Comfort

Definition: How much support they give your manhood

Let us all remember the big picture when it comes to comfort. There is more to it than just feeling relaxed. We need to give our manhood the necessary support whenever we’re walking or moving around.

1st place: Briefs

Briefs by far provide the most support. The better they are made, the more freedom of motion you get. Just hear what soccer superstar David Beckham had to say about tighty-whities: “They’re comfortable. I think they feel great, especially when you’re playing soccer, as well.”

2nd place: Boxer Briefs

They take the second spot as they're comfortable enough for an active day. They don’t leave your manhood hanging the way boxers do. Try jogging in boxer briefs and boxers and you're going to notice the difference.

3rd place: Boxers

When you're sleeping or you don’t plan on getting out of bed, boxers are good. Aside from that they just lack support. Other men may like the feeling that you’re not wearing anything down there – but that’s really a double-edged sword. Support even matters more when you're older.

Men's Underwear Round 3: Functionality

Definition: How well they cover and keep things in place

Your underwear has two primary roles: (1) protection and (2) shielding the little guy from public view. If what you’re wearing does an okay job or sometimes fails at either one – consider a switch.

1st place: Boxer Briefs

Boxer briefs cover the inner thighs and are generally immune to the issues that apply to briefs and boxers. Justin Timberlake is said to have tried all three before settling with boxer briefs. He likes “the way they hold everything together,” which is important whenever he sings and dances on stage.

2nd place: Briefs

They're not at much risk of a wardrobe malfunction (unless they're the wrong size). However, they don’t exactly cover the inner parts of your thighs. And there is also a chance they can cause chafing when your body moves around.

3rd place: Boxers

They can be quite a loose cannon in the gym! Imagine heading there one of these days in a combo of boxers and loose shorts. You might be doing sit-ups only to accidentally give someone a full view of the gems. Many of us think that sends a wrong message.

Men's Underwear Round 4: Versatility

Definition: The extent of how they look and function as more than underwear

1st place: Boxers

Boxers take first place because they resemble shorts. They have air pockets similar to those of shorts. Wearing them gives your inner thighs some protection from the cold.

2nd place: Boxer Briefs

They cover you up a little more than briefs. They still look like underwear but you could probably get away with them when chilling at a friend’s place for drinks and pizza.

3rd place: Briefs

The fact that they look like nothing else but briefs – it doesn’t make them versatile. Say a fire alarm goes off and you have to leave your house or your building in briefs. What people see is what they get.

Men's Underwear Round 5: Personal Preference

Definition: What you most want to be seen wearing?

1st place: Boxer Briefs

Boxer briefs win by a landslide. They are the ones that make most women swoon. As long as you’ve got a decent build and exude enough confidence – no doubt this is the way to go!

2nd place: Boxers

They have an edge over briefs looks-wise. They help add some weight to the lower body, which the ladies seem to like. This also helps a lot when your mid-section is on the larger side.

3rd place: Briefs

When it comes down to it, the majority of women prefer the other two. It might have something to do with the briefs they would see their father or little brother wear back home. Many don't find them super attractive beyond those billboard ads.

Which Men's Underwear Is Best Overall?

Here's the final score of each based on rankings (the lower the better):

Boxers = 11

Briefs = 12

Boxer Briefs = 7

Winner = Boxer Briefs

Boxer briefs take the trophy hands down. The other two only have a single-point difference – while the winner finishes 4 points ahead.

Consider the number of Hollywood heartthrobs who have mentioned they prefer sporting boxer briefs: Ben Affleck, Patrick Dempsey, Josh Duhamel, Jared Padalecki, Mark Salling, John Legend, Adam Levine, and John Mayer. Those are guys who are pretty comfortable in their own body (and aren’t afraid to show it off!). Boxer briefs suit them well. Who is to say they won't suit you?

That isn't to say you should switch over to boxer briefs this instant. Remember – we’re only here to give you some guidance and perspective. It’s really your style and your call.
